SHIATSU MASSAGE
Shiatsu, also known as acupressure, is a finger pressure massage technique. Shiatsu massage therapy uses the same Chinese meridian system as acupuncture and so shiatsu therapy is essentially acupuncture without needles.
Pressure is applied with the thumbs, fingers, and palms to particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose of correcting the imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and promoting health. The pressure points are specific acupuncture points on energy pathways, known as meridians.
Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and exercises are also applied to unblock energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of chi (energy/prana). Chi is believed to be part of every living thing that exists, as a kind of "life force" or "spiritual energy". It is frequently translated as "energy flow", or literally as "air" or "breath". Loose fitting clothing is recommended.
